B2B Sales & Business Development
Full time, Remote/Hybrid, $50k base + Commission pa, Immediate start.
Seeking an sales person (with some sales and marketing experience) to join the Brandkit team.
We are a New Zealand headquartered B2B SaaS (Software as a Service) company, established in 1997, working in the branding, digital media, content management sector. We're a small team of 5 (Founder, Admin, Designer, 2 x Engineers) and dog named Harry.
Our clients include well known brands and organisations across a broad spectrum of industries from around the globe. We have a strong presence in the National and Local Government, Economic Development, and Tourism sectors in several markets.
We all work remotely, and practice asynchronous working. We're also Mac people.
We love meeting up, we love authentic brands, we love content, we love visuals.
However for an async style of work - you have to be a good writer. You need to write up (and sketch up) your ideas, and explain your idea/concepts. You need write to customers and build relationships often with words first. Only later do you get to converse in person or via video call.
About the work
Most of the users of our product (Brandkitapp.com) are professional Marketers, Content Managers or Designers.
A lot of creative is stored, managed and distributed via our product - including brand guidelines, logos, identity, photography, graphics, artworks, design files, video, audio, documents, PDF's, Presentations, etc - but most of it is made by someone else.
That is - we handle the brand identity / design / creative / photography / video / content and other digital assets made by, and for other teams, clients.
Ideally you've already been in the trenches in sales or business development somewhere and have developed the necesary discipline and confidence to effectively sell. You know the grind, you know about the hard work, the Friday deadlines, etc.
There won't be too much of that type of work here, but we want someone who really understands that approch because,we want to automate a lot of the wrote work away and free up your time to make human connections, to build relationships with prospets and customers.
The work here is varied and involves things like:
- prospecting for B2B leads on Linked In (using Sales Navigator)
- communicating with leads on Linkedin in the first instance to build trust and a relationship by offering value
- crafting automated scripts in our sales and marketing tools to help nurture relationships and more prospects down the funnel.
- discussing solution requirements with clients, and coming up with a plan to deliver to client requirements.
- figuring stuff out - like how to save time on wrote sales processes, like email follow ups, data entry, etc
- working with our product team to help develop new product features and workflows for customers.
- testing features with customer/sales lense.
- communicating with customers to help them succeed. For example, this might include proactively sharing new research or case studies.
- demonstrating product, or feature walkthroughs in-person, or via Video Call (typical), to a prospet or an existing customer.
- Account Management - reaching out to exisiting customers to check-in on progress, helping with customer success, and aligning the customers needs with the appropriate plan and features
- upselling to exsiting customers
- participating at events and trade/exhibition booths
- looking to the future, helping figure out how AI and Machine Learning will impact sales processes, workflows, and how we make changes to adapt to future challenges.
This is what a typical week might look:
- Monday: Review active opportunities in CRM (Salesflare). PPlane your week. Follow up any emails, comms, with customers, prospects and leads. Prospecting for our ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) in LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Connecting with Leads on LI. Message offering a personalised value (e.g. case stidy, research, etc) Adding Leads to Saleflare (our CRM)
- Tuesday: Meet with the team (video call) to review progress and understand what everyone's working on this week. Check-in with customers or trialling prospects.
- Wednesday: Conduct live discovery/demo call with a prospects. Send follow ups. Organise trial accounts. Send proposals/agreement.
- Thursday: Review and work on optimising automated workflows in Salesflare. Do some more LI prospecting. Meet with CEO to review opportunities. Discuss strategy/tactics.
- Friday: Follow ups. Check the analytics. Discuss with team. Give feedback from prospects, customers. Discuss how we can drive more traffic for the right type of prospect.

Who we're looking for:
The ideal candidate will be pationate about sales and marketing, and believe that Sales people are just as important as Engineering people, and add real value to the customer. Without a sale there is no solution for the customer, and no money to pay. for product development.
A degree qualification is not required if you can show that you are passionate and capable. You should be adaptable, fast on your feet, have street smarts, can negotiate with customers, be prepared to work hard to solve problems for customers, and form trusted long term relationships with customers.
- Must be honest, reliable, approachable and likeable.
- Must be good with technology. Know your way around a compter, the web, social mediam smartphines, etc
- Should have an understanding of fundamental sales and marketing principles.
- Should have an understanding of fundamental branding principles.
- Ideally should have graduated from a tertiary institution, and have experience in sales or marketing or content management or an ad/creative agency.
- You can write well, and explain your thinking to the team and clients in english. Good literacy, numeracy and writing skills are essential.
- You can think outside the box, solve problems and create new things.
- You're happy working remotely, or in a shared work environment, and can self-manage your time and responsibilities.
- You're not a rock star (you can leave your ego at the door) - but you know your stuff. We're a small team and sometimes it's just you and the client. You must have enough knowledge, experience, intellect and the right attitude to help customers get what they need, to be successful, and be proud of your work.
- You accept you don't know what you don't know, but are willing to learn, do the research and work it out.
- You can collaborate well with anyone on the team sometimes in real-time, but mostly async.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prospect for leads and build sales funnel pipeline
- Nurture leads and prospects and move them down the funnel towards a sale.
- Conduct or participate in sales calls (Discovery/Demo/Followups) with a prospect in person, or (mostly) via video call.
- Negotiate and close a sale to new accounts
- Maintain automated workflows to limit wrote work
- Nuture and upsell existing customers
- Help customers be successful
- Help the business achieve growth in sales.
Requirements:
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
- A graduate of any qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. We will make an exception for self-taught folks provided you can show us that your have experience and/or that your work is to a competent level and that you understand fundamental sales and marketing principals.
- Proficiency in LinkedIn prospecting with Sales Navigator (This can be learnt on the job)
- Proficiency in writing compelling emails to prospects.
- Know you're way around a computer, the web and social media.
- Ideally experience in sales where you developed good sales disciplines
- Ideally experience selling to marketing teams at mid to large size brands, government agencies, tourism orgs, ec
What we are offering
Base Salary plus Commission - we're offering a base salary plus commission - which will vary based on your experience starting at $50k base plus commission.
Flexibility - you can work remotely but will need to spend 1-2 days a week in office in downtown Auckland, or if you prefer an office environment all the time, we can arrange a permanent co-working desk at GridAKL.
